I'm gonna make you bend and break
(It sends you to me without wait)
Say a prayer but let the good times roll
In case God doesn't show
(Let the good times roll, let the good times roll)
And I want these words to make things right
But it's the wrongs that make the words come to life
"Who does he think he is?"
If that's the worst you got
Better put your fingers back to the keys

Everyone thinks that birthdays are supposed to be happy and fun occasions... and I thought the same until my thirteenth came...
I'm guessing that now would be a good time to recall why.
The day I entered my teenage years started off as a great one. My dad made me breakfast, just like he does every year, and my friends and family came over for a party.
Oh the party, it was fun, with cake and ice cream, and best of all, the people I cared about surrounded me. The party took place around noonish until three to four maybe. Sure I received alot of great gifts, but the one I treasure the most is the ring that my brother gave me. It was gorgeous and I immediately put it on. That was the object that I admired for the rest of the night.
So where's the not so happy and fun part... geez I'm getting to it.
Okay so it was around 3:30 ish and my brother had a basketball game at 4:15. Since the party was almost over, my brother and father decided that they would leave for the game and my mother and I would meet them there after all of my guests had left.
I told my brother and father that I would see them in about forty five minutes when we got to the game and out the door they went. Little did I know that that was the last time I was going to see them.
After all of the guests left, I got changed out of my party clothes and went to wait for my mother in the car, but when I opened my door to walk out, my plans were changed. I opened the door and saw two police officers who had just got out of their vehicles and were heading up the driveway. Not knowing what was going on, I was confused and a bit worried.
They asked me to go back inside and get my mother, and so I let them in and ran upstairs to do as they said. When she and I walked down the stairs, I had a bad feeling in the pit of my stomache...
